Silver filigree
Metal drawn so fine it looks like lace.
Filigree is jewellery made from thin threads of metal, twisted and curled and soldered into a pattern. It is old, slow, and it shows the hand that made it.
On a helmet it changes what armour means. The shape still says protection; the surface says decoration. Paired with velvet it is the whole story of this look: something hard sitting against something soft.
Silver over gold, every time, for this palette. It keeps the face cool, picks up the grey of the studio wall and agrees with the chrome on the nails.
