Crystal drops
The only thing in the frame that sparkles.
Faceted teardrops on a fine silver hook. They hang at jaw level on both sides and mark the width of the face like a pair of full stops.
Everything else in this look is matte or soft: chalk-white skin, velvet, a dark lip. The crystals are clear and cut, so they are the only points of pure light in the picture. Two is enough. A third piece of sparkle anywhere would start to argue.
Drop earrings move, too. In a still image that movement is implied by the shape alone, which keeps a very still portrait from feeling frozen.
